St Mary & St George Coptic Orthodox Church in Townsville was established to serve the Coptic Orthodox community of North Queensland. The first Holy Liturgy was celebrated in April 2013, marking the beginning of the church in the region, under the blessing of the Coptic Orthodox Church and the guidance of His Grace Bishop Daniel, Bishop of the Coptic Orthodox Diocese of Sydney & Affiliated Regions.

The church gathers regularly for the Divine Liturgy, prayers, and the sacraments. It serves children, youth, and adults through Sunday School, youth meetings, and church activities, bringing the community together around the life of the Church.

Rooted in the ancient tradition of the Coptic Orthodox Church, St Mary & St George continues the faith passed down through the generations, while serving the community in Townsville and surrounding areas.
